Strawberry Jam

One of my favorite memories from childhood is eating my mama's hot sourdough bread (some of y'all know what I'm talking about, right?) with homemade strawberry jam on it.   Sinfully delicious.  It's been a long time since we'd made any of that jam, but after our Mother's Day trip to pick strawberries, we thought that was the perfect thing to do with all the berries we picked!  As always, Clara was an excellent kitchen helper.

Mash 'em and pour 'em...

Stir in the pectin and the sugar...

And to the freezer, they go!  Fresh (tasting) summer strawberries all year long!  Yippee!!

  2. The first thing you’re going to do is to wash your jars in hot soapy water. Rinse them and put them in a medium oven, about 100 degrees, to dry them off ready for when the jam is made.
