Recovering.

Today was a good bit calmer than yesterday; a few minor dramas, but nothing like the drama of Clara's heart arrhythmia episodes from yesterday. She's very swollen and pretty heavily sedated following her surgery, but we expect her to get rid of a good bit of fluid over the weekend. Clara didn't like it when they tried to put a new IV in, and let us know with her oxygen stats dropping down into the 70s for a while. Fortunately, they were able to get them back up to an acceptable level by adjusting her ECMO catheters.

We called and checked on her a little while ago, and the nurse said that her O2 stats were staying steady in the mid/upper 80s, and that they were able to get a new IV in her foot without further drama. They are probably going to start a diuretic over the weekend to help reduce her fluids. She's off of most of her surgical and post-surgical meds. Her renal function is good, and she's peeing really well.

Pray for a calm weekend. Specifically, pray for her to be able to get her fluids off without complication, and that all of the heart arrhythmia issues are behind us. As always, continue to pray for her pulmonary hypertension to fade so that we can start weaning her off of ECMO soon.

That's all for now; we're thankful that this is a pretty boring update. Thank you all for your prayers and love.

  4. We are so thankful for her progress. I was especially excited to see a closed belly in her pictures(we call that a yayyy God). Anytime we check in and view her pictures, we have a collaborative "awwwwwww" in our house. She is so precious.

We will pray that she has no cardiac issues from here on out, her PPHN resolves and that her diuresis goes well. Hopefully she will begin to oxygenate well and move towards coming off pump.

We love you three and pray for your strentgh, peace and continued progress. Thank you so much for your continued updates.

    XOXO,
    Nicole and Presley Jones

  5. I've been checking in every morning for a Clara update. Thank you for taking time in the midst of all of this to update the blog. I'm Beth Stilwell's sister and have been praying for you all since she shared your story with our family several months ago. Will continue to pray and hope that your baby will improve every day and be home with you before you know it.
