Diapers and Dishes

I know I've written here many times how grateful I am for our church community, but I cannot possibly say enough how much those folks mean to us.  We had our share of gut-wrenching goodbyes last year as several families moved away for various reasons, but I'm thankful that as some move away, new ones find us and the spirit and connection among us just continues to grow.  These folks have loved us well, and many of them came together to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Baby Sister with a fun evening of "Diapers and Dishes."  The food and fellowship were enough, but they were also kind of enough to send us home with enough diapers to keep that tiny tush covered for quite some time!  The tangible blessings of real life needs coupled with the love, prayers and affirmation of dear friends made for a special night that we will always remember.  We had so many lovely showers for Clara and they provided us with all the "first time" parent needs, but every one felt a little bittersweet as we wondered if we would ever get to bring her home and use all those things with her.  Of course, there are no words to say how grateful we are that we did and that we'll get to be using most of that gear and clothing for Baby #2 as well.  But it was a really special evening to get to celebrate this baby without that cloud of worry or questions of "what if" hanging over us.

Thank you all!
