January Things

So, I announced a new baby and then disappeared for another two months.  Sorry 'bout that.  If you want to know what I've been filling my oh so precious time with when I'm not battling pregnancy vomiting, it's basically been spent watching as many episodes of The West Wing as humanly possible in each single day.  You see, I missed out on it when it was originally on the air because I guess I was in college or grad school or enjoying my twenties or something.  But I'm making up for it now.  Don't you worry.  I'm about halfway through season 4 right now, so if I can continue at this aggressive rate, I should be totally finished before the baby arrives in order to fully devote my attention to a newborn.

Speaking of the baby... there are lots of positive updates that I should share, but I'll save it for another post.  Suffice it to say, that the baby appears to be totally HEALTHY right now and we are relieved and excited (and also, strangely, a wee bit terrified) at the thought of a typical delivery and bringing home a newborn just a matter of days later. The official due date is Memorial Day, but since Clara was a c-section this one will be too and it will be scheduled sometime for the week before that.  We'll know that date sometime next month.
2013 was a really really hard year for lots of reasons, many personal, that I didn't write about.  There was lots of loss and grief for us and it was a tough season of life.  My prayers are that 2014 will hold much joy and more peace.  I also hope I might return a little more to writing, which I love and have missed, and to photography which is a great source of fun and joy for me.  If those things do happen, perhaps there will be some more activity on The Hardy Life this year than there has been in the past twelve months or so.  I want this second-born child to be chronicled as well as any second-born child can be.  I've clearly set the bar far too high for it to be done as thoroughly as Clara's beginning was, but I'll do my best for this sweet little one to not be overlooked.

With all that said, I'm going to skip right over the baby updates and Thanksgiving and even Christmas fun to TODAY, because I just want to post these fun photos of Clara playing in the (tiny tiny tiny bit of) snow.  I will do my best to catch up on all that's passed since with a few quick posts on the holidays another time.  For now, President Bartlett is calling me.  I'm afraid if I don't answer there might be a national disaster.

  1. So good to see your family again! I'm sorry last year brought such sadness and loss; may 2014 be brighter and more full of joy. Praising God for the hope of a healthy new baby so Clara can start her job as Big Sister in Chief!

  3. Chrissy....
Are you watching television shows by Netflix? That is the best way, I think, to enjoy TV!! You can watch it however fast you want, sans commercials!! Plus those dreaded season-ending two-part episodes? No need to wait impatiently, because there it is!! Plus, you can rewind when you're me and attention deficit disorder takes over!! Enjoy "The West Wing", Friend!! ;)
You're going to LOVE the new adventures of caring for and loving on a "normal", healthy baby!! Right now, CDH is all you know. But soon enough, you'll be experienced in babies who do not come home days late while still connected to tubes!! It will be great!! ;-D
I am looking forward to reading more Blog posts!! And meeting your new baby!! ;)

  4. I'm so happy to see that sweet face again. She is really growing up and I think she will be a great "big sister". Thank you for letting me share in the triumph of Miss Clara Mae Hardy's miraculous life. I think of her as "our baby" and she will always have a special place in my heart. Hoping the new baby's birth will be as easy and uneventful as possible. Hope you have a better year, enjoy your little family. Clara is as beautiful as ever.
